WEXFORD - SEPTEMBER 22nd Traco Power Solutions which design and distribute electronic power supplies, is proud to announce that it is expanding its product line to design and develop customised high-voltage or high-power power supply solutions for the European market.

The company, which celebrated its 30th anniversary in Wexford last year, is now recruiting for seven new roles to service the new business at its facility at Whitemills Industrial Estate, which is the only R&D site within the Traco Power Group.

This development is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.

In 1989 Convertec Ltd. was established in Wexford by Dr Werner Wölfle and Mr Hans Caspar, to manufacture DC-DC converters for sale through its Swiss distribution company, Traco Electronic AG and its German distribution company Comptec GmbH. Now owned by its immediate parent company, Traco Electronic AG, and operating in Ireland as Traco Power Solutions Ltd, its main activities are the design and distribution of power supplies.

Commenting on the announcement, Managing Director of Traco Power Solutions, Luis De Sousa said: “The commodity power supply sector is intensely competitive on cost, but our competitive edge lies in being innovative and having the necessary expertise. This decision by our parent company, TRACO POWER, to support our product portfolio expansion here in Wexford is a great show of confidence in the Irish site which will also benefit from having some of these products manufactured here in Ireland.”

Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar said: I am delighted to see Traco Power Solutions announce an expansion of its product line, which will result in seven new jobs. Traco Power Solutions is a well-known and highly respected employer in Wexford and last year marked its 30th anniversary here.  Its expanded presence in the South East shows that we are succeeding in attracting high calibre companies and highly skilled jobs to our regions, which is a key priority of the Government.”

Denis Curran, Divisional Manager, Regional Business Development at IDA Ireland said: “Over the past 30 years Traco Power Solutions has provided high skilled roles at its Wexford facility, where the team has continued to innovate and transform. This culture of innovation has been a major factor in Traco Power Solutions’ ability to win a mandate for the development and design of this new product line. IDA Ireland is delighted to partner with TRACO POWER on this new mandate and I wish Luis and the team the very best on this next phase of development.”
