Monday, 14th September 2015: Patterson Pump Ireland today hosted an Open House event to launch its new manufacturing facility in the IDA Business Park, Marlinstown, Mullingar, where the company currently employs 37 people. Each day, the facility manufactures one cast iron pump, four metres in length, which may weigh between six to eight tonnes and requires a 40 foot container to transport. Today’s launch is the first landmark event in the company’s ambitious target to expand its workforce to 65 employees by 2020. The global pump manufacturer has continually thrived throughout the recession, successfully growing its workforce year-on-year.

Speaking to those gathered at the Open House event, Rod Pelot, Managing Director of Patterson Pump Ireland, recognised the importance of local staff to the expansion of the current facility: “The growth of Patterson Pump Ireland is a fitting acknowledgement to the commitment shown by staff to standards of excellence. This has enabled us to grow as a company for five consecutive years throughout the recession. The creation of one manufacturing job generates additional jobs within the community; we hope the Midlands will continue to reap the benefits of our expansion.”

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD said: “Recently we launched the Midlands Jobs Plan, aimed at building on the progress we’ve made in job-creation in this area, and at its heart is building more manufacturing employment across the region. Today’s announcement that Patterson Pump Ireland is creating 28 additional jobs is an important boost for Mullingar and for the Midlands Region, and I wish Rod and his team every success with this project.”

Pauric Finn, Business Development Manager, Engineering & Industrial Technologies,  IDA Ireland said: “It’s great to see a manufacturing company like Patterson Pump Ireland be in a position to expand their operation in Mullingar to the point that they require a move to a larger premises and will be in a position to grow jobs. The success of Patterson Pump Ireland will act as a strong reference seller for other manufacturing companies considering locating in the Midlands, especially as the company has credited its skilled and dedicated workforce with its success here.”

Patterson Pump Ireland is a subsidiary of the US-based firm and is recognised globally as a leading manufacturer of commercial pumps. Attracted by a skilled workforce and IDA support, the Irish subsidiary was set up in Mullingar in 1998. Each year Patterson Pump Ireland has strategically expanded, diversifying into waste water, municipal pumping and flood control markets. The company has become a world leader in the manufacturing of fire protection pumps, shipping to over 60 countries in Europe and the Middle East. Among its indigenous clients, Patterson Pump Ireland has supplied pumps to both Aghada Power Station, Cork and to the Limerick Tunnel.

“Although we are proud of our new facility, it is not the buildings or equipment that makes a company successful but rather the people who come to work each day and strive to become better,” said President of Patterson Pump Company, Albert Huber.

Jeff Gorman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Gorman-Rupp Company (Patterson Pump’s parent company)
said “It has been gratifying to watch Patterson Pump Ireland grow over its relatively short life. Having the support of the local community has been an important element in our growth as proven by the investment in our new facility. To say that we are pleased with our investment in Ireland is an understatement!”
In the coming week, the company will be manufacturing at their previous rate of 360 pumps per day in their new facility. For further information on Patterson Pump Ireland, visit The expansion is supported by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation through IDA Ireland.
