Over three days, a diverse group of 120 young people, aged 18 to 25, will gather to explore the future of their city and imagine what they would like their legacy to be in terms of their human, social and civic impact. They will continue to explore the themes of previous Legacy programmes - Inclusion, Purpose, Identity, Belonging and Representation - but this year they will be challenged to put empathy into action and discover how to demonstrate Allyship in everyday activities.
Legacy Dublin 24 is organised in association with headline sponsor, IDA Ireland, is hosted by Google and is supported by Broadlake, Department of Rural & Community Development, Dublin City Council - Social Inclusion Unit, EY, Irish Rail and NTMA. The organisers are delighted to have confirmed a media partner this year - Spin 1038.
The launch today will be followed by an outreach to young people in Dublin to register for a place at Legacy Dublin 2023. The main requirement? A passion for Dublin and an interest in being one of the leaders who will shape its future.
Commenting on Legacy Dublin 2024, Dara Connolly, CEO of Common Purpose said, “Legacy is a unique initiative for empowering young people to have a voice in their future in a truly inclusive world. It has already run in over 30 locations around the world to date… including Boston, Chicago, Singapore, London, Bangladesh, India and Germany. We are excited to see it taking place in Dublin again in 2024 which this year followed by an All Island Legacy in Feb 2025 between Dublin and Belfast. We had an incredible experience with the programme in 2022 & 2023 and have some fantastic new partnerships this year which will bring the initiative to the next level. In fact LegacyDublin23 directly led the creation of Charter of inclusion for Dublin which was passed by Dublin City Council ion the 13th May 2024.
