Castlebar, Mayo - February 8th 2018 - IDA Ireland has launched ‘Invest in Mayo’, the latest phase of its digital marketing initiative for attracting inward investment by highlighting the specific attributes of individual regional urban centres.

‘Invest in Mayo’ is an interactive experience designed for use on tablet, smartphone and PC. 

The launch took place today at IDA Ireland’s newly completed Advance Technology Building (ATB) in Castlebar.

Information on location, education, lifestyle and existing IDA client companies and indigenous companies is provided on the website through rich images, video and text which will be continuously updated.  It will allow IDA executives to showcase Mayo in face-to-face client meetings.  It can be viewed here:

Mayo is home to leading life science companies such as Allergan, Hollister and Baxter. These international brands are an attraction for additional overseas companies to potentially locate to the Mayo Region.  In addition, Mayo is a growing Technology hub.

Attending today’s launch, the Minister Rural & Community Development and TD for Mayo, Michael Ring said: “The launch of the ‘Invest in Mayo’ initiative in this high quality new business facility in Castlebar sends out exactly the right message about Mayo. We are open for business. We have the talent, the infrastructure and we can offer a fantastic quality of life in Mayo. The presence of leading international companies such as Allergan, Hollister and Baxter in Mayo is testament to this. 

“As Minister for Rural and Community Development, I am committed to ensuring that the economic recovery is felt throughout Ireland and my Department is working to support regional employment opportunities through investments in local initiatives such as the Great Western Greenway. I am delighted that Minister Humphreys is so focused on rural job creation and on helping attract employment and investment into our regions. I commend her Department and the IDA for spearheading this initiative.

We are moving in the right direction. Nine out of ten jobs created in the last twelve months were outside Dublin. Live register figures released last week show that the number of people out of work in Mayo has declined by 11.6% in the last year and there has been a 40% decrease in the local live register since the introduction of the Action Plan for Jobs in 2012.”

IDA’s Executive Director Mary Buckley said: ‘Invest in Mayo’ is an innovative digital marketing application that will allow us to present the region’s offering to clients, showcasing all that Mayo has to offer.”

Acting Regional Business Development Manager for the West Region, Emma Goode said the new marketing tool will greatly assist IDA in conveying to clients the strong value proposition Mayo offers and added: “IDA looks forward to continuing to work closely with our partners in the region to promote the location as an attractive place for inward investment and job creation opportunities.”

Having toured the new Advance Technology Building following the launch, Minister Ring commented: “This state-of-the-art building, one of a series of such properties being built in areas where private developers have not been building in some years, has been constructed as part of IDA’s Regional Property Investment Programme which is funded by Government to create high-spec property options for businesses. It is a magnificent building that will greatly add to Mayo’s offering to investors.”

IDA’s Mary Buckley said the completion of construction works represented Phase 1 of the ATB development with Phase 2, the marketing of the building to potential investors, now actively underway. “This top quality, turn-key property adds significantly to the value proposition we can offer clients and will greatly assist our efforts to attract inward investment to Mayo.”
