A Green Commitment

Ireland has one of the most ambitious decarbonisation plans of any country in the world, making it an attractive location for global companies to expand or invest in for the first time.

  • Target of at least 80% electricity generation from renewables by 2030
  • 2nd highest in Europe for wind and solar energy production per capita

A Sustainable Location

Ireland is ready for renewables. As Europe’s most westerly country on the Atlantic coast, Ireland benefits from abundant wind energy and fast wind speeds.

  • 1st in the world for share of electricity demand provided by onshore wind
  • Ambitious offshore wind energy plans to reduce reliance on fossil fuels

The Climate Action Plan is an all-government commitment with support across the political spectrum. The Irish Government is backing this pledge by setting its GHG emissions reduction targets in law.

  • Government plans aligned to UN Sustainable Development Goals

In other jurisdictions that we looked at, they literally wanted you to land and sign the deal. Whereas the IDA were very powerful in thinking about the next wave of growth beyond the first 200 people, and what type of skills we might look for then. It genuinely does feel like a partnership rather than a one-and-done, and the after-sales experience is excellent too.

There’s a global shortage of cybersecurity professionals, it’s well documented that it’s very hard to hire and retain cybersecurity professionals. We’ve been able to hire very high-quality talent, who are doing a great job. There’s a very strong work ethic and culture here, eSentire has several very, very strong partnerships, and I emphasise the word ‘partnership’. A good example is Munster Technological University: they have what I would describe as the leading programme in cybersecurity in Ireland, hands down.
