Mr Li Keqiang, Premier of the People’s Republic of China, will visit Ireland on Sunday 17th May 2015 and Monday 18th May.

The Premier will be accompanied by a number of Chinese Government Ministers as well as his wife Professor Cheng. Taoiseach Enda Kenny will meet with Premier Li in Ashford Castle later today to discuss opportunities to strengthen trade, investment and tourism links between Ireland and China.

The meeting will also be attended by a number of other Ministers from Ireland and China.The visit comes as the latest step in the deepening of contacts and relations between Ireland and China at the highest level, building on the Strategic Partnership Agreement agreed during the Taoiseach's visit to China in 2012. It will also provide an opportunity to showcase Ireland to a wide Chinese audience as a location for investment, tourism and high quality food production.

The Taoiseach and the Premier will also visit a farm in the area to give him first-hand experience of Ireland’s high-quality agri-food sector and to help promote Ireland as an environmentally friendly tourism destination.

The farm visit will also include traditional Irish music and dance, reflecting the strong interest in Irish culture in China.
