Press Release 15 May 2017

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Mary Mitchell O’Connor TD said: “JP Morgan's announcement that it is expanding significantly in Ireland is a huge vote of confidence in our economic policies. The financial services sector has been a key target under our Action Plan for Jobs and this announcement by a leading investment bank will create a large number of high quality jobs and this is very positive and very welcome. Ireland is a committed member of the EU and the IDA and my Department will continue to work with any company thinking of moving to Ireland or expanding within Ireland.”

Minister of State for Financial Services Eoghan Murphy TD said: "This expansion on already significant Irish operations by JP Morgan is a welcome vote of confidence in the strength of Ireland's offering and Dublin's status as a major European financial centre.  It further adds to the increasing depth and diversity of our financial services sector. It also reflects the increasing importance of Ireland as a gateway into the Single Market. I look forward to continuing working with our State Agencies in implementing the Government's IFS 2020 Strategy."

Martin Shanahan, CEO IDA Ireland said: “I am delighted to welcome the news that the largest investment bank in the world will be significantly expanding its footprint in Ireland. JP Morgan is a global leader in the financial services industry operating in over 100 countries across the world. The new office building will greatly enhance JP Morgan’s current presence in Ireland and afford it both the space and flexibility to meet its future growth plans.”

“Today’s announcement by JP Morgan represents a strong vote of confidence in Ireland and its expanding international financial services sector, and shows that our track record, pro-business environment, highly skilled talented workforce and an unwavering commitment to the European single market continues to appeal to investors.”

“IDA has been constantly engaged with J.P. Morgan over the past number of months. We are delighted that the company has selected Dublin to grow some of its businesses and confirmed in recent weeks that our capital city will be one of the anchors for their post-Brexit European operations.”

“Currently, there are over 400 international financial services companies employing over 40,000 people in Ireland. At home and through our network of global offices.”
