Press Release 18 Oct 2012

Dublin, Thursday 18th October, 2012: Today 200 of the most influential founders of the global tech community are converging in Dublin for F.ounders, an exclusive, invitation-only event for the world’s most successful tech company entrepreneurs and originators. The event has been dubbed “Davos for geeks” by Bloomberg.

The attendees at the 2012 F.ounders event include the YouTube co-founder (Jawed Karim), as well as founders of Moshi Monsters (Michael Acton Smith), Flipboard (Mike McCue), Yandex (Arkady Volozh), Mozilla (Mitchell Baker) among others. The combined value of the companies in attendance at the event is estimated to be three quarters of a billion dollars.

In addition to the high ranking founders, the group will also see industry leaders and pioneers such as former NATO Supreme Commander Wesley Clarke and the former President of Harvard and ex-Secretary of the Treasury in the United States Larry Summers, Wael Ghonim an internet revolutionary during the Arab Spring, as well as Barry Sonnenfeld the director of Men In Black.

Over two days (October 19th & 20th) the founders will discuss a wide variety of issues including innovation, philanthropy, entrepreneurship, economic growth and investment. It is the third annual F.ounders gathering with last year’s event described as a phenomenal success as ‘Davos for Geeks’ by the Wall Street Journal and the ‘’Rolls Royce of technology events’ by The Next Web.

The founder and curator of F.ounders Paddy Cosgrave said, “Founders brings together 200 of the world’s top tech company founders, the people behind some of the fastest growing companies in the world. Together their companies are worth an estimated three quarters of a billion dollars. The event gives Ireland a unique platform for to showcase the country”.

Barry O’Leary, Chief Executive at The IDA said, “The potential that F.ounders delivers to the Irish economy is immense. F.ounders is a fantastic opportunity for Ireland Inc to showcase our potential to companies that may be planning to expand their international footprint”.

F.ounders, which is held in camera, takes place on the back of the Dublin Web Summit, one of the biggest tech events in Europe, which took place earlier in the week. Attendees will meet to network, share ideas and do business during the day and well into the evening with plans in place for dinner and beyond.
