JAN 30 2014 – As the deadline for CAO applications approaches, students are reminded to look at the employment opportunities available in the digital sector.
While there are strong skills demands in a range of areas, such as engineering and biopharmaceuticals, the digital sector is still by far the biggest area where intense global competition for skills exists.
Ireland is host to most of the world leading digital companies – they have skills needs in a number of areas. This includes everything from customer and technical support roles, particularly with foreign language capability, to highly skilled technical roles in new areas, such as data analytics and big data.
Barry O’Leary CEO at IDA Ireland said “Ireland continues to attract substantial levels of foreign direct investment. Key to this success is the ability to provide clients with the skills and talent they need. Skills availability is the single biggest competitive advantage Ireland can deploy in its quest to attract high quality investment.”
IDA Ireland works closely with the Department of Education, the HEA and all third level institutions to ensure that Ireland can fill the skills needs of our leading multinational companies.
