The GLEN Workplace Equality Index Awards are held annually and recognise and celebrate organisations that are making significant efforts to ensure employees can be themselves without fear of it negatively affecting their career.

EY took the top award, ‘Best Place to Work for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans People’ or Employer of the Year, with IBM (2nd), Accenture (3rd), Deutsche Bank (4th) and Microsoft Ireland (5th) rounding out the top five.

EY also claimed three leadership awards.

LGBT Employee Network of the Year went to Unity, EY, a network that works to advance the LGBT equality agenda in EY.

The LGBT Inclusion Champion of the Year was named as Catherine Vaughan, Global Compliance Leader at EY, who won the honour for her work demonstrating the value that driving LGBT diversity and inclusiveness can have on an organisation, for founding Unity and for being an active spokesperson for LGBT equality in the workplace.

The final award for EY went to Mike McKerr, Country Manager Partner at EY, who was named Ally of the Year for advocating among clients and stakeholders about the opportunities that LGBT diversity and inclusion present, and for instigating a cultural shift within EY that he hopes will ensure that EY’s strength in this area is sustainable.
