Dublin, 19th August 2021 - Thrive Global, the behaviour change technology company founded by Arianna Huffington, announced today that it has opened an engineering office in Dublin, Ireland.
This latest expansion comes just weeks after Thrive Global's $80 million Series C round, co-led by Kleiner Perkins and Owl Ventures. The new funding enables Thrive to rapidly accelerate its vision of shaping the global future of the employee experience. With the opening of Thrive Global Dublin, the company is able to further deliver on that global promise.
Attracted to Ireland by its strong tech talent, Thrive aims to hire up to 40 people across its product, engineering, and design functions. With a beautiful office next to Merrion Square, and a guaranteed flexible, hybrid work culture, experienced engineers are encouraged to apply.
Speaking about the announcement, Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Leo Varadkar T.D, said: “I’m really pleased to hear that Thrive Global will be opening a new engineering office in Dublin, creating 40 new jobs. Events over the past year and a half have forced us to change the way we work and the work of companies like Thrive will be instrumental in helping us identify and adapt to the new opportunities we will have once the pandemic is over. I’m especially happy to see that these new jobs will offer a flexible, hybrid work culture, something the Government is keen to see more of. I wish the team the very best of luck as they take this next step in expanding their operations.”
"When we launched Thrive Global in 2016, the epidemic of stress and burnout was already global. No country has been immune. So our solutions have to be global as well. And that’s why I’m excited to announce another milestone in Thrive Global’s journey: The opening of Thrive Global Dublin," said Arianna Huffington, Founder and CEO of Thrive Global. "As we expand our footprint around the world — with offices in New York, San Francisco, Athens, Bucharest, Melbourne and now Dublin — we’re also expanding our reach and impact at a time when the hunger for solutions is stronger than ever."
The opening of Thrive Global Dublin couldn’t be happening at a better time. The pandemic highlighted the themes at the heart of Thrive’s mission like never before, bringing employee well-being, mental health and resilience to the top of the agenda for nearly every company around the world. Now we find ourselves at an inflection point, with a once-in-a-generation opportunity to redefine work and productivity. This is truly where Thrive's mission and platform meet the moment.
Since its launch four and a half years ago, Thrive has helped employees at more than 100 organizations in over 40 countries adopt Thrive’s Microsteps — small, science-backed steps to help build healthy habits right away. And with the launch last year of its AI-powered behaviour change platform, the company has been able to broaden its impact dramatically, delivering its solutions — focused on Microsteps, storytelling, real-time stress interventions and community — through best-in-class software to everyone from frontline and call center workers to executives of multinational companies.
IDA Ireland Executive Director Mary Buckley said: “This investment is a welcome addition to our strong base of tech companies scaling engineering capability in Ireland. Furthermore, it showcases Ireland’s ability to attract international technology companies in the media, content and wellness arenas due to our ecosystem and availability of tech-based talent. Thrive Global is an emerging player in this sector and I wish the company the utmost success with their new operation in Dublin”.
