Dublin, Minister for Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD, today (21st July 2011), announced that Wolters Kluwer Financial Services, a comprehensive regulatory compliance and risk management technology provider, is to make a Research and Development (R&D) investment at its Dublin operation with the creation of 13 new high quality jobs with the potential for further job creation over the next 2 years. The company, which currently employs 32 full-time employees and 23 contract employees in Dublin, has also secured a lease on a larger building on Mount Street in Dublin to facilitate the expansion. The investment is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.

Wolters Kluwer acquired Dublin-based risk management software provider Sword in 2008. Sword has now officially become part of the company’s ARC Logics for Financial Services enterprise risk management (ERM) offering within its Financial Services business unit.  Today’s R&D announcement will involve the development of a new software platform which will be the core platform upon which all of ARC Logic solution’s ERM capabilities will be based. This investment will place Wolters Kluwer Financial Services’ Irish operation as a centre of excellence and a ‘thought leader’ within the company’s global operations.

Making the announcement, Minister for Enterprise, Jobs and Innovation, Richard Bruton, TD said:
“I have repeatedly said that for Ireland to continue its economic recovery, we must focus on supporting R&D and innovation in every way we can. Multinational investments in R&D like this very welcome announcement today not only provide high-quality jobs, but also provide major spin-offs for Irish businesses, researchers and ultimately the economy as a whole. I am determined to ensure not only that investments like this can be expanded and repeated across the economy, but also that the wider Irish economy can benefit in the greatest possible way from the R&D capability we have in place. In this way we can achieve radical change to the economy, and create a sustainable path to much-needed jobs and growth”.

Fran Sullivan Chief Technology Officer for Wolters Kluwer Financial & Compliance Services, speaking about the investment said, ‘
“Wolters Kluwer is very excited about out plans to expand our Dublin operation and have the IDA and the Irish government to thank for the opportunity to do so. Because of their strong support of our business, and the proven expertise and skill of Irish technologists, we are able to accelerate the growth of and enhance the quality of our enterprise risk management solutions across the globe. For that, we are extremely grateful and excited to be doing business in Ireland.”

Commenting on the expansion, Barry O’Leary, CEO of IDA Ireland said, ‘Financial services software development is a key target sector for IDA Ireland and the decision by ARC Logics to further invest in Ireland highlights the strong reputation that Ireland has in this area. This investment is a key strategic project for Wolters Kluwer Financial Services

‘Ireland enjoys an international reputation as a prime location for Research and Development which embeds existing operations and leads to increased employment growth. Today’s R&D investment announcement further adds to this reputation and on behalf of IDA Ireland I would like to offer continued support to Wolters Kluwer Financial Services.
