PayPal Hiring 100 Positions at its Dublin Centre

12/10/09

We have a fantastic team here in Dublin made up of highly motivated individuals who put our customers at the centre of everything we do.  We are delighted to expand our workforce here and to continue to support our growing European business.

Uwe Heddendorp, Vice President PayPal European Operations

Global online payments company PayPal today announced the creation of 100 new jobs in customer service and operations at its European Centre of Excellence in Blanchardstown, Dublin.

PayPal, which already employs more than 950 people at its Blanchardstown site, has opened up customer service and operations positions for individuals fluent in English and a second European language.  More information about these positions can found at www.paypaljobsireland.com

The announcement comes just six months after the official launch of PayPal’s European Centre of Excellence by An Taoiseach Brian Cowen in March. At the grand opening PayPal announced an investment of €15 million to support the development of the company’s Dublin offices into a European Centre of Excellence.

Commenting on the announcement, Uwe Heddendorp, Vice President PayPal European Operations, said: “We have a fantastic team here in Dublin made up of highly motivated individuals who put our customers at the centre of everything we do.  We are delighted to expand our workforce here and to continue to support our growing European business.”

PayPal’s European operation centre opened in Dublin in 2003. Since then the number of staff has increased from just 25 to more than 950 today. The Dublin centre manages all direct customer contact for PayPal’s businesses across Europe.

Over the next three years, PayPal expects more than half of its growth from outside the U.S. About 45 percent of PayPal's revenue comes from its international business, with most of this revenue coming from PayPal's European markets. PayPal processed more than $15 billion in TPV in Europe in 2008 and is offered on more than 165,000 European merchant e-commerce sites.
