Minister O’Keeffe TD opens New Office in Cork for McAfee, Inc.

New premises at City Gate to house growing team for World’s largest dedicated security vendor

Cork, Ireland – 13th May 2010 – Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation Batt O’Keeffe TD today with McAfee President and CEO Dave DeWalt officially opened the new, state-of-the-art facility for McAfee, Inc (NYSE:MFE) in City Gate, Mahon, Cork.  This follows the company’s September 2009 announcement of the creation of 100 new jobs with its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) inside sales team.  Following a successful period of recent recruitment, the McAfee EMEA sales team has now expanded from 180 to 280 employees.

McAfee has had significant operations in Cork since 2004, with its previous Irish headquarters located at EastGate, Little Island. The inside sales organization was created with the support of IDA Ireland and will service mid market customers across the region.

Speaking at today’s official opening, Minister O’Keeffe said: “I am delighted to be here today to officially open the EMEA centre for McAfee Inc.  This investment by the company is excellent news for the South-West and further secures Ireland’s place as a leading location for the Information Communications Technology Sector.  McAfee offers excellent career opportunities to the Cork, and wider South-West communities and recruitment is already well underway.  This is a significant endorsement by a leading technology company of its Irish operations, in line with the Government’s Smart Economy strategy, and a major vote of confidence in Ireland’s ability to deliver McAfee’s future growth and development worldwide.

Now almost twice its previous size, the McAfee office in Cork is the headquarters for much of the company’s international operations, including global localization and product readiness, EMEA finance, procurement, operations and logistics for EMEA and Asia Pacific, as well as EMEA inside sales.  This move now reinforces the role the Cork site plays for McAfee as the heart of much its international and pan-EMEA activity.
