Barry O'Leary, CEO, IDA Ireland

Galway, IDA Ireland, today, welcomed the announcement that HP, the world’s largest technology company, is adding a further 50 high-tech, graduate to senior engineering jobs at its cloud services centre in Galway.  These jobs, which are supported by IDA Ireland are in addition to the 105 positions HP announced for the same facility in December 2010 and will come on stream immediately.

The investment in Ballybrit, Galway is a result of HP’s recent successful recruitment drive and the company’s ability to fill the recent job openings in a short timeframe.  Globally, HP has committed to becoming a leading provider of cloud based platform services, which empower developers to create applications for consumers.

Commenting on the announcement, Barry O’Leary, CEO of IDA Ireland said, ‘Today’s announcement by HP is welcome news for Ireland’s Cloud Computing space. Ireland is poised to become a global cloud centre of excellence due to our significant software economy and combination of talent and track record. The expansion of HP’s Cloud Services Centre in Galway signifies the potential for continued growth within the large number of leading software companies which have selected Ireland as their location of choice for European Data Operations. ‘

‘The jobs being created are in the areas of engineering, business analysis and data architecture.  The roles provide an opportunity for graduates to work on a large complex corporate engineering programme,’ O’Leary continued.

‘Cloud Computing has been identified as a major economic opportunity for Ireland. The expansion of this centre indicates the importance of Cloud Computing to the Irish economy and I offer the continued support of IDA Ireland to HP as it develops its operations here,’ he concluded.

The HP recruitment drive will commence immediately.  More information on jobs is available by contacting HP on galwayjobs@HP.com.
