Freund Corporation to Establish European Hub in Tullamore

Taoiseach Mr. Brian Cowen TD today (Tuesday, 26th January) announced that Japanese pharmaceutical equipment company, Freund Corporation, is to establish a European base in Tullamore, Co. Offaly, creating 25 high value positions over five years.  The investment is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.

Freund Corporation, headquartered in Tokyo, is the leading pharmaceutical equipment supplier in Japan, employing 304 people in Japan and the US.  Today’s announcement will see the company create 25 high-skilled positions in drug delivery development and clinical trial manufacturing, as well as marketing/sales of pharmaceutical equipment and excipients

Making the announcement, the Taoiseach said: “This investment is great news for Ireland and the midlands region in particular.  It is Freund Corporation’s first investment in Europe and further reinforces Ireland’s profile as a leading location for pharmaceutical companies. Freund Corporation is a very successful Japanese company and we hope that Ireland will assist the company in developing and growing its business now and in the future.  I am delighted to welcome Freund Corporation to Tullamore and can assure the company that it has the full support of the Irish Government as it embeds its operation in Ireland”.  

Freund Corporation designs, manufactures and markets processsing equipment for the manufacture of solid dosage products.  The company is represented in the Japanese and US markets and has been selling directly into Europe for the past 30 years, however it previously had no direct presence in Europe. The Irish operation will act as a European hub for the company and will play a pivotal role in facilitating the growth of the company’s European business.   

Freund Corporation has been in operation for the last 45 years as a manufacturer of pharmaceutical equipment, excipients and food preservatives.  Freund Corporation has over 5000 worldwide equipment installations and 400 patents reflecting creative technology and unique products.
