Company to create 35 jobs in the establishment of new Research and Development Team
Dublin, Ireland - Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton TD today announced that software development company Misys is to expand its Irish presence by establishing a new R&D team in Dublin, creating 35 new jobs. This investment is supported by the Irish Government through IDA Ireland.
Misys is a leading developer of software solutions for the financial services industry. The company already employs over 100 people in Dublin at its two software development centres; Misys International Banking Systems Limited and Sophis Technology (Ireland) Limited. Today’s announcement will see the company establish a dedicated R&D team of 25 people creating high value positions for software engineering professionals. In addition 10 software consultancy roles will also be created. The roles will be for highly skilled software engineering professionals with a degree and/or masters in computer science.
Welcoming the announcement, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, Richard Bruton TD said,
“A key part of this government's strategy to create employment and growth in the economy is to ensure that we build on our established base of world-leading technology companies. This means ensuring that more and more dynamic and innovative international companies locate operations here, and ensuring that more indigenous companies start and expand on the back of their presence here. This announcement by yet another world-leading technology company that it is locating high-end R&D jobs in Dublin is great news and shows that we are making real progress”.
Robin Crewe, Chief Technology Officer, Misys commented, “The establishment of this operation in Ireland is a very exciting move for Misys. Our previous ventures into Ireland have been as a result of acquisitions of existing software companies and so this new Research and Development Operation marks an important milestone in the company’s business links to this country. The new team here in Dublin will work on the development of new products with additional functionality and new technology capabilities. I look forward to building on the existing strong links Misys has with Ireland as we work towards making this operation a global centre of excellence.”
Barry O’Leary, CEO, IDA Ireland said, “Today’s investment by Misys forms part of a growing cluster of companies using Ireland as a base to develop software products for the global financial services industry. This announcement demonstrates how Ireland can play a key role in contributing to the corporate technology roadmap of companies of the calibre of Misys. The presence of Misys in Ireland enhances Ireland’s position in winning knowledge-led investment and I look forward to working closely with the company as it further develops in Ireland.”
