August 7th 2009

The National Institute for Bioprocessing Research and Training (NIBRT) announced today a significant research collaboration with Roche. This innovative collaboration involves NIBRT’s expertise in glycobiology and will focus on the development and optimisation of HPLC glycan assessment technology specifically for Roche.

Welcoming the collaboration, Dr Maurice Treacy, NIBRT CEO said: “We are delighted with this research collaboration with Roche, which will allow NIBRT to apply its glycobiology expertise for specific requirements in Roche’s portfolio of recombinant products. We look forward to working with Roche on this exciting project and developing our relationship further over time”.

As part of the deal, Roche will have access to NIBRT’s proprietary Glyco-database (Glycobase v3.0 http://glycobase.nibrt.ie/ ) for the duration of the research collaboration. The deal involves NIBRT’s Principal Investigator and global leader in glycobiology, Prof Pauline Rudd, who will oversee the collaboration at NIBRT’s research facilities in Dublin, Ireland. Financial terms were not disclosed.
