EastPoint announces second annual Jobs and Careers Fair

Over 200 New Jobs on offer from leading multinational companies

The ongoing recruitment by multi-nationals at EastPoint highlights both their importance as a sector for job creation but also the enduring appeal of the Irish workforce who, time-after-time, deliver great results for their parent companies. This growth, predominately driven by international services and technology companies, is in line with the opportunities identified for Ireland in IDA’s strategy, Horizon 2020.

Barry O'Leary, CEO IDA Ireland

Following the success of the EastPoint Jobs Fair in April 2010 which attracted over 1,500 interested candidates for 200 roles on offer, a second event will be held on Friday, 25th March 2011 for companies based at the established docklands office park beside Dublin city centre. This year the event will be expanded to include a careers and education section where many of Ireland’s top third level institutions and professional bodies will be on hand with careers and education advice.

Seven leading multinational companies have confirmed the availability of over 200 new job vacancies in the IT, financial services, telecommunications, shared services and aviation sectors.  The companies hiring: Oracle; Whirlpool; Citrix; Arvato; Ergo; and Global Tele Sales (a Lufthansa company) are targeting graduates and experienced professionals for roles in IT sales & business development, technical support, accounting and finance, project management, as well as customer service personnel with European languages.  Among the over 200 job vacancies up for grabs will be more than 100 roles in one of the world’s largest online companies who will have two recruitment companies present recruiting Data Analysts with foreign language skills. All job vacancies will be for full-time positions or fixed term contracts.

The EastPoint Jobs and Careers Fair will take place at Estuary House in EastPoint, Dublin 3 from 10.30am – 2.30pm, with a later session from 4.30pm – 7.30pm to facilitate anyone with daytime or existing work commitments. If using public transport, EastPoint is a 10 minute walk from The Point Luas station and Clontarf DART station. There is also a free, regular shuttle bus service to and from the Point Luas station and Clontarf DART station.

Among the leading third level institutions and professional bodies attending are: UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School; Trinity College; Dublin Business School; DIT; National College of Ireland; DCU; ACCA; CIMA and CPA.

Representatives from the companies hiring will be available to speak with interested candidates about the roles on offer and how best to apply. It is advisable that candidates attending bring up-to-date copies of their CV on the day.

Commenting on the launch of the EastPoint Jobs and Careers Fair, Matt Gallagher of EastPoint said: “We were delighted to organise last year’s Jobs Fair at EastPoint which saw over 200 jobs on offer. Companies in EastPoint are continuing to recruit so we are pleased to be in a position to organise a second Jobs Fair to help fill a further 200 new jobs that will join over 5,000 people working in EastPoint. We’ve also made some improvements to the event which will see top universities and professional bodies on hand with careers and further education information this year. Last year over 1,500 people turned up to the event and both attendees and participating companies found it to be a very worthwhile event to be part of. We hope that the expanded Jobs Fair will enable people to learn about career opportunities and working life at East Point, whilst providing an environment in which they can promote themselves to prospective employers directly.”

Speaking about the new jobs at EastPoint, Barry O’Leary, Chief Executive, IDA Ireland said: “The ongoing recruitment by multi-nationals at EastPoint highlights both their importance as a sector for job creation but also the enduring appeal of the Irish workforce who, time-after-time, deliver great results for their parent companies. This growth, predominately driven by international services and technology companies, is in line with the opportunities identified for Ireland in IDA’s strategy, Horizon 2020.

The EastPoint Jobs Fair initiative is to be commended as it brings employers and prospective employees together under one roof. Also, the presence of so many third level institutions and professional bodies reminds us all of the importance of ongoing up skilling that will help Ireland retain its reputation for having a highly educated workforce that is flexible and adaptable to the ever-changing requirements of employers.”
