Ireland (2nd) has overtaken Singapore (3rd) on Ernst & Young’s Globalisation Index, an index that gives the world’s top 60 economies scores out of 10 on issues such as trade openness, labour movement, exchange of ideas and technology, and capital flows. Hong Kong embraces the highest level of globalization.
Others in the top five ranking are Belgium, and Sweden and Denmark (both are in fifth position). Mainland China ranks 40th; Taiwan, 11th; and the United States, 24th.
