Industry Trade Associations

  • Financial Services Ireland - is the principal trade association for financial services in Ireland and the only financial services industry association that focuses on all aspects of the financial services sector across the board.
     
  • Irish Medical Device Association (IMDA) - aims to promote and support an environment that encourages the sustainable development and profitable growth of multinational and indigenous medical device and diagnostic companies.
     
  • Irish Software Association - which has represented the interests of software and IT services companies in Ireland since 1978, is the leading voice of software technology and service in Ireland.
     
  • ICT Ireland - is the representative group for the high tech or knowledge sector. Membership is made up of the leading players in the Irish technology sector, as well as many early stage hi-tech companies and telecommunications companies. The vision of ICT Ireland is to maximise the contribution of these companies to Irish society and the economy.
     

Energy / Utilities / Telecommunications / Sustainability

  • E-Net  - Fibre is the future for telecommunications and e|net's mission is to bring fibre services to regional Ireland. Today e|net manages the largest Fibre Optic only network in Ireland extending to 27 towns and cities throughout the country.
     
  • Eirgrid - EirGrid plc is a leading Irish energy business, dedicated to the provision of transmission and market services for the benefit of electricity consumers. It is a state-owned commercial company.
     
  • ESB - Electricity Supply Board is one of Ireland's utility companies dealing with both Supply (domestic & commercial) and networking (connection and metering services).
     
  • Sustainability Energy Ireland - set up by the Irish government in 2002 as Ireland’s national energy agency.  Their mission is to promote and assist the development of sustainable energy.  Details of funding and programmes are available on their website.

Planning / Environmental

  • An Bord Pleanala is the state body with responsibility for determining appeals and certain other matters under the Planning and Development Acts. This website contains information on planning process, appeals and strategic infrastructure and development.
     
  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - has responsibility for a wide range of licensing, enforcement, monitoring and assessment activities associated with environmental protection. Areas covered include Licensing and permitting, Environmental enforcement, Resource and waste management, Climate Change, Environmental monitoring, Environmental assessment, Advice and guidance and Water framework directive.
     
  • The Irish Planning Institute is the professional body representing the majority of professional planners engaged in the physical and environmental planning in Ireland. 


Land Agencies

  • Land Registry - statutory body with responsibility for promoting and safeguarding  the legal, societal and economic framework of property ownership in Ireland, by maintaining and extending a comprehensive and reliable system of registration of title, which secures property rights and facilitates property transactions.
     
  • Ordnance Survey Ireland - national mapping agency of the Republic of Ireland, producing a very comprehensive range of urban, rural, tourist and leisure maps at a variety of scales in digital and paper format.


Development Agencies

  • Enterprise Ireland - Enterprise Ireland is the government agency responsible for the development and promotion of the indigenous business sector.
     
  • Shannon Development - Shannon Development is a government owned regional development company dedicated to promoting and developing the Shannon Region of Ireland.
     
  • Údarás na Gaeltachta is the regional authority responsible for the economic, social and cultural development of the Gaeltacht areas of  Donegal, Mayo, Galway, Kerry, Cork, Meath and Waterford.
     

Government Departments / Information

  • Company Registration Office - Central repository of public statutory information on Irish companies and business names. The CRO operates under the aegis of the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment.  This website will assist in registering a business name, setting up a company, online filing of accounts etc.
     
  • Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government - responsibility for promoting sustainable development and improving the quality of life through protection of the environment and heritage, to provide infrastructure, to balance regional development and to facilitate good local government.
     
  • Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment -  responsibility for Enterprise, Competitiveness, Trade and International Affairs, Employee Employment Rights and Industrial Relations, Science, Technology and Intellectual Property, Corporate Services and Economic Policy.
     
  • National Roads Authority - The Authority's primary function is 'to secure the provision of a safe and efficient network of national roads'. It has overall responsibility for planning and supervision of construction and maintenance works on these roads.
     
  • Revenue - Irish Tax and Customs.  The Office of the Revenue Commissioners providing information on both personal and business related tax, duty and customs requirements.
