Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd. (LCC) was established in Killarney in 1958 and was the first Liebherr venture set up outside of Germany. The company manufactures an extensive range of quayside container cranes, both rail mounted and rubber tyred gantry cranes (RTG) and is the sole source for these products within the group. It is also the second largest manufacturer of cranes worldwide. To date, well over 300 container cranes have been manufactured in Killarney for operation in ports on all continents and in over 40 countries.

The multi-functional and fully integrated plant, with complete autonomy in design, production, sales, marketing, installation and service of container cranes employs over 450 skilled staff. The plant has a wide skills base particularly in the design, structural, mechanical and electronic engineering areas. The company has consistently shown the ability to successfully manufacture and export heavy industrial equipment from a rural location (to 5 continents) and achieve profitability.

Liebherr’s Research & Development team, based in Killarney, is involved in the design of new cranes, energy efficient components and complementary new products. The Parent consistently reinvests profits to develop products and facilities maintaining a world leading brand and reputation for quality.
