Established in 1872, Zurich Financial Services is one of the leading insurance based financial services groups, which offers insurance and risk management solutions to individuals, small and medium sized businesses and major multinational companies. The company employs 60,000 people worldwide, and serves customers in more than 170 countries.  The group’s key markets are the US, UK and Continental Europe (comprising of primarily Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Spain).  Zurich’s core business is general insurance and life insurance.  Zurich also distributes non insurance products including mutual funds, mortgages and other financial services products from third party providers.

Zurich in Ireland

Zurich has been present in Ireland for over ten years through its Eagle Star brand which recently rebranded as Zurich. A growing number of its operations are focused on the international market. It employs approximately 1,000 staff throughout its operations in Ireland.
In June 2010, Zurich announced that they will establish their European Manufacturing Hub in Ireland. The company will create 60 new high-skilled positions by the end of 2010 at its premises in Blackrock, Co. Dublin.

The Dublin-based European manufacturing Hub will see the company’s IT, servicing and operations solutions centralised in one location which will also assume responsibility for managing outsourced IT relations across Europe. The Hub will employ 100 highly skilled staff by the end of 2010 with 60 new jobs being created and 40 being transferred from existing positions within its life business. The roles will include highly skilled IT and operations staff including business analysts, underwriting, IT and project management roles
