Through Foreign Direct Investment since the 1960’s Ireland has grown a globally significant Life Sciences Sector. Life Science Companies locate in Ireland in the areas of Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Devices and Diagnostics, employing approximately seventeen thousand people in a variety of activities.

Nine of the top ten global pharmaceutical companies are located in Ireland, with seven out of ten pharmaceutical blockbusters produced here.
