The presence of large multinationals and its strong research and development culture has made the region a hotbed for Life Science, Technology, Multilingual and Engineering graduates. This ensures the South West continues to attract the best of talent from across Ireland and Europe, thanks to its international airport and connectivity to Mainland Europe and the UK.
The region’s ability to provide highly skilled employees is underpinned by the presence of three third-level institutions: University College Cork (UCC), Cork Institute of Technology (CIT) and Institute of Technology Tralee (ITT), with over 30,000 full & part time students. These produce around 9,000 graduates every year across Business, Humanities, Engineering and Sciences. Each of these third-level institutions constantly engage with the network of multinationals located in the region, especially when it comes to work on collaborative research projects.
