Smith & Nephew is an industry leader in Orthopaedic Reconstruction and Trauma, Endoscopy and Advanced Wound Management. A partnership was announced with REMEDI, the Regenerative Medicine Institute at NUI Galway in 2007, supported by the IDA.
Teleflex Medical is a global supplier of medical devices, surgical instruments, and disposable medical products. They design, manufacture and market under well known medical device brands used in respiratory care, anaesthesia, urology and a range of surgical procedures.
The research base in Ireland is being actively driven to reach new heights of internationally recognised excellence. Key components were the establishment of Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) in 2003 with €646 million Irish Government funding and the creation of dedicated research centres, such as the National Centre for Biomedical Engineering Science, at NUI, Galway.
